Go Ahead, Ask for What You Need
Self-empowerment can be hard, yet it's essential for moving forward in life...
When clients start working with me, they’re ready to ask for more out of life, but don’t know where to start. Typically, up until the point we meet, self-empowerment has proven elusive and they’re living in a state of semi-paralysis, unable to make intentional moves in any one direction. This means they’re circling round and round in a kind of suspended reality, which is frustrating and unfun. They’re ready to dream bigger for themselves and move forward, but don’t yet have the inner resources to create the reality they seek.
Wishing and dreaming about what they want is one thing, but actually asking for it through words and action is entirely another. This requires being clear on what they seek, truly believing they deserve it, and feeling empowered enough to ask for it. Most of us have a threshold for what we feel safe asking for. For example, asking for food if we’re hungry might seem pretty easy, but we might stop short when it comes to asking for more money than we need, or more meaning and fulfillment in our lives.
We all have ways we place limitations on ourselves when it comes to what we feel we can ask for. This is why I say we’re all empowered…to a point. However, when we’re working to create some beautiful changes in our lives it’s essential that we embrace self-empowerment, get crystal clear on what we want, and start asking for these needs to be met. This is how we move into more ease and joy, by voicing our needs, taking action toward them, harnessing the magic of the Universe, and allowing change into our world.
We’re all meant to grow and lead our most authentic and fulfilling lives. When we’re fully empowered and living this way, we’re most easily able to help others, spread positivity, and make the world a better place for everyone around us. I know that can sound a little cheesy, but I don’t like to hear about people playing small because they’re afraid to ask for what they want for any number of reasons. Everyone should feel empowered to ask for their needs to be met at any given time. This is how we all grow and thrive.
Remember, this isn’t about asking for “more” than anyone else has. It isn’t about winning anything or climbing to the top of some fictional hierarchy. It’s about truly stepping into the life you want to live and asking for what’s on your heart. Because when you get it, you can do more with it, you can function as your happiest, highest self and everyone around you will benefit. Can you see how our world would benefit if we all lived this way? The ripple effect is astounding.
As I mentioned in my last newsletter, I choose my topics based on what I’m hearing and seeing a lot in our world at any given moment. Lately I’ve been having so many conversations with people about them playing small, not feeling they can ask for more than they currently have, and feeling they should just be content with “enough.” All of this has been shared with me with sad-trombone-blah-energy.
My hope is that right now, in the middle of a topsy-turvy first quarter, you’ll all take this moment to remember that we live in a benevolent Universe. (Even Einstein asked us to remember this!) Please, go ahead, ask for what you need! Then, be prepared to get it and, when you do, use it for good. Don’t let any thought or person diminish your voice. We all need to hear what you have to say. The more we do this the more we’ll all thrive and lead our best lives as our happiest selves. Empower yourself to take control of your life and live as you want to. Trust yourself.
