I hope this slightly-less-elaborate-than-usual newsletter finds you amid a fun week between Christmas and the end of the year. I’m at home, enjoying my family, loving this week of semi-hibernation. Each day is a combination of fun activities, holiday clean up, and a little reflection on the year that’s almost over.
Every year has a story and 2023 contained a little bit of everything for me. There’ve been lots of personal and professional highs, and a handful of lows, too. I continued to focus on my growth and happiness while helping others work towards their own joy and ease. We’re all works in progress and I’m glad to say this year I reached a point where I trust enough to relax into my own forward movement instead of fretting that it’s only temporary. I’ve been studying this language intensely for years and it’s indescribably rewarding to witness my translations help others transform their own lives. I’m forever grateful for this journey.
At the end of every year I like to reflect on what I’d like to usher into the next one, and what I’d like to leave behind. This is a fun, quick exercise I do from my sofa amidst the background noise of the household. I really like the simplicity of it and think it’s perfect to share right now. I hope you enjoy it, too.
IN/OUT
IN: Trusting myself even more, pure laughter, jokes, longer walks, activities with friends, productive daily work, writing more newsletters that reflect my true thoughts, hot tea, longer hugs, biographies, hand moisturizer, flowers at home, scented candles, being brave every day, remembering birthdays, curating possessions I already own, candlelight at dinner every day, not overdoing it.
OUT: Doubting compliments, frustration with aging elders, worrying about potential future news headlines, planning too far ahead, flavored lattes, forcing writing when it doesn’t come easily, mindless scrolling, trying to exert control when unsure, late night internet shopping for stuff I don’t need, choosing safety over courage, dry hands, sugar, overdoing it.
What’s your story for 2023? What are you taking into 2024 or leaving behind for good? I’m not a big one on crafting fancy resolutions. Even though it’s the new year, it’s still the same you. Give yourself permission to usher in the fresh joy, embrace where you are right now, and flow into the new year at your own pace.
Wherever you are right now I do hope you’re happy and healthy. May you have a few moments between now and the end of the year to congratulate yourself on 2023 and get excited for what’s to come. I’ll be back next week with new content, new thoughts, and ways we can all embrace the year ahead while being firmly on the driver’s seat of our lives.
If you’re feeling wobbly and unsure of what to do next, I’d like to remind you that you’re never stuck in your story, even if you think you are. You can write a new story for a new year whenever you’re ready, I’m here to empower you with that truth.
Happy holidays and be well!
