4 Lessons I Learned This Summer
Diving deeper into topics and thoughts I'm always contemplating...
Hi All!
I’m back from my little break. I always take the last couple weeks of August off from writing to reflect on summer and set my intentions for fall. This summer was particularly intense, as I think it was for most people. Today I want to share four things I learned I’ll be carrying with me for years to come.
We Are Surrounded by Mirrors, Even the Harsh Ones
The concept the world is always reflecting our vibration back to us is not hard to grasp. I’ve written about our vibration before and how I consider it the energy we put into the world through our thoughts, words, and actions. When our personal reality reflects something we don’t like the opportunity to change it begins with changing ourselves first. Every time we move in a new way, we give ourselves a new vibration set point, and our external world catches up.
However, this notion can be difficult to accept when the world is as hard as it is right now. I don’t agree with almost anything that’s taking place on the world stage. However, does this exempt me from taking responsibility for the reflection of the broader reality? A big part of me wants to believe so. But this summer I realized it doesn’t.
I know I didn’t directly cause what’s going down, but it’s showing me there is work to be done. If I want a new outcome for our world, one that’s much more harmonious and fair, I need to lean into creating it. Unfortunately, I don’t possess a magic wand, but I can do my part by working on my own life and creating a ripple effect for those around me.
This doesn’t mean ostriching myself and bypassing all the tough emotions. It means rolling up my sleeves and moving beyond complacency. Getting into the moments where I can make new choices that reflect my values and see this polarity we’re being shown as an opportunity to create better, stronger, more resilient futures.
It’s Okay to Let Others Bounce Off You
During the heightened energies of July there were a few moments when people got mad at me, but I not at them. I was the target of their fury and unprocessed emotions. I tried to approach them with kindness, but they didn’t want to hear it. I knew it wasn’t about me; it was about their own stuff.
However, there was still huge part of me that wanted to keep approaching them to fix it, to quell their anger and get back into “all’s good” mode, but I didn’t. Resisting the urge to fix, counsel, and mend was hard! But I knew it was the right thing to do. Instead, I let them bounce off me. And you know what? It all ironed itself out. I’m not painting myself as perfect in any way, shape, or form, but sometimes it’s okay to let people work their own stuff out in their own time while you move on.

The Conundrum of Abundance & Wealth Disparity
I’m constantly reading books about abundance and money mindset. It’s one of my favorite topics. I know we’re not in a zero-sum game on this planet. The Universe wants to give everyone all we desire and so much more. So why are we living with this quasi-oligarchy? Is it moral to be calling in abundance when there’s such a wealth disparity in our world right now? How are some of the most obscenely wealthy people able to remain so oblivious to what the world looks like? Honestly, it breaks my brain.
And then what about the people who don’t have any abundance and need to learn this practice the most? It feels trite and uninformed to counsel the suffering they need to work on making new choices and developing a better money mindset. I mean, c’mon.
I am very cognizant of my privilege and don’t take it lightly, but I do regularly call in abundance and practice the art of putting good energy into the world and receiving what comes back to me. I do believe it’s natural to be compensated for our work and we should all attempt to serve the world with our gifts. But doing this is a privilege in and of itself.
After a lot of reading and listening this summer I’ve come to the point where I follow the advice of Elizabeth Ralph. She says getting money into the hands of conscious people is a very good idea. The more we can call in using our gifts, the more we can be a circular vessel for putting good into the world. In other words, we create a ripple effect of goodness in the world with our own actions. The more one person receives doesn’t mean another person will receive less, this is critical to remember. It’s what the receiver does with what they receive that counts.
To that end, I’ll keep serving the world with good energy and calling in abundance so I can send it back out in equal measure. We’ve seen what happens when people don’t treat their money with responsibility and integrity, being selfish and full of lack mindset, hoarding for themselves like Scrooge. They can continue to do so, but when more and more people call in their own abundance and act from a place of higher consciousness, we’ll be able to be the change we want to see.
Love for All is Always the Answer
Imagine how differently we all would see the world if we stepped back from the minutiae and vibrated a little higher each day. Not in order to achieve perfection, but to realize love is the answer.
We’re getting a front row seat to what it looks like to run a world on hatred and retribution. I know what it’s like to have hate in my heart, we all do a little bit. But when it outweighs the love, the goodness, it takes over like a dark cloud and seeps into everything.
Hate and anger are easy to harness, easy to rile up in others. This is why it’s so important to work on emotional management, so you can take the emotional charges out of situations and realize the Universe is always trying to move us toward a state of trust and love for ourselves and each other.
